The Mackenzie letters are dated in 1750 and 1751. In early 1752, Dr. Clephane took the letters, adding his own comments and interpretations to an introductory section, and passed the resulting package to the Royal Society. The contents were read before the Society on March 5, 1752, and approved for publication in Vol. 47 of the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society For the Years 1751-1752.
