“The Embroidered Banner, and Other Marvels” by Lieut-Colonel Hort, with Eight Coloured Steel Etchings by Alfred Ashley, was published in London by John & Daniel A. Darling and printed by Darling & Son. The book has been rebound in full tan calf with spine hubs and gilt panel decoration. The spine titles are in gilt on brown leather. The original spine and covers are bound in at the rear of the book. Top edge gilt. Two of the etching (frontispiece and tutle- page illustration) are detached. There are signs of wear on the spine and edges of the cover. Other than these shortcomings, the book is in very good condition.
