The Presidential election campaign of 1892 had the Republican team of Benjamin Harrison and Whitelaw Reid competing with the Democratic team of Grover Cleveland and Adlai Stevenson I for the President and Vice-President positions. The Republican National Committee of New York published “The Republican Campaign Text-Book for 1892”, Protection, Reciprocity, and Dollars of Equal Value to support their candidates and provide extensive information on the candidate’s capabilities, the Republican platform, the Republican plans for implementing the platform, and the Republican history of meeting the needs of the country. It should be noted that the intent of the book came to naught, since the Presidential victory went to Grover Cleveland by a vote in the Electoral College of 277 to 145.

The book, which measures approximately 4 ½ x 8 inches, contains 263 pages of text and data dedicated to attracting the loyalty of voters to the Harrison/Reid ticket. The book is staple-bound, with brown paper covers. The covers are detached and chipped along the edges. The cover on the spine is missing several sections. There is a stain on the front cover which persists, in diminishing size, into about the 60th page of the book. The pages, including those that are stained, have printing that is clear and easily read. The overall condition of the book is fair to good.
